It's finally February - the endless January is over and it feels like the year can finally begin properly.
When it comes to goal setting for the year ahead, we always focus on January, the idea of New Year, New me is spouted regularly and, as the clock hits midnight, we find ourselves setting unrealistic goals. These goals are often fuelled by the pressure of New Year's resolutions and guilt from our apparent over-indulgence over the festive period, not to mention that bottle of Prosecco whirring around your brain.
In fact 80% of New Year's resolutions are forgotten or fail by late January.
Well, not this year. This year we're goal setting in February.
February is the perfect time to goal-set for the year or month ahead. We've has time to think about what we actually want to achieve and what is actually achievable. Often we come into February disappointed at what we haven't done or the lack of progress we've made to those New Year's resolutions. If we choose to set goals in February instead, we come into this month feel motivated and recharged, with a new mindset for the year ahead.
And there's no better day than today. Today's date - 2/2/22 - is a palindrome which, according to astrologists opens something called an 'energy portal', perfect for manifestation or goal setting. Not to mention that the number 222 is known as 'angel number' associated with good luck, joy and positivity.
As fate would have it (or perhaps just a good algorithm), this morning on my TikTok page a video by @iamashlielisanne popped up.
The idea is to create 2 lists of 22, one where you list all the things you're grateful for and another for what you want to manifest for the year ahead.
So, I thought I'd give it a go. I'm not big into manifesting but I am really interested in it, hence why I've called this goal setting. But I loved the idea of Ashley's method, known as the 2/2/22 Portal.
It gave me a chance to think about everything I've achieved over the past year and what my goals are for the rest of this year.
Some of my goals included everything from happiness, laughter and good health to more serious goals such as making progress in my career and paid freelance opportunities.
I think doing this quick goal setting exercise has made me feel more motivated for the year ahead and given me a bit of focus. If you fancy, give it a go.
